WALKING
TOUR THROUGH ST. PAULI -
perhaps the most famous red ligth district
of Hamburg
Tuesday
6 October 2009
(2100 - 2230)

In
front of the conference hotel Empire Riverside is the Hamburg port
with the River Elbe and the shipyard Blohm + Voss. But right behind
the hotel starts St. Pauli, the notoriously famous amusement quarter.
With the famous Reeperbahn and the crowded Große Freiheit,
St. Pauli is known all over the world as a very liberal, glamorous,
exciting and permissive red-light district. Taboos are unknown here.
There is, of course, another St. Pauli: boozy Bavarian-style dance
halls, discos, clubs, music bars, some with live music, cosy old
harbour inns.
In
a guided walking tour you will experience the diversity of this
quarter. The English speaking guide will provide you with historical
facts as well as entertaining anecdotes. The tour will pass through
picturesque streets and places where seafarers used to spend their
money and where nowadays people from all over the world live and
party almost every day: Davidstraße, the
Hafenstraße and Hein Köllisch
Platz. Next station would be the Reeperbahn
and Große Freiheit.
